Have you ever had one of those friends that even though you haven’t seen or talked to each in a long time, whenever you do make contact it is just like you saw them yesterday. Seventeen and a half years ago, the Lord blessed me with such a friend. Melanie Young came into my life when my third child was 6 months old. She encouraged me through nursing trials and food allergies with Hannah and over time became a dear friend. God used her in my life in many ways both practical and spiritual. She was my go to gal. Whenever an emergency would arise (and at that time in my life I had more than my fair share) all I had to do was call Melanie and she would be there for me.

To give you a complete picture, you can’t have Melanie without Hal, her much beloved husband. I don’t say that lightly, you can see the love that Hal & Melanie have for each other whenever you are with them. You can also see their love for the Lord in all that they do and say. Their love for their 8 children is also evident in word and deed.

Hal and Melanie have written a book that shares the adventures and rewards of raising boys to be real men. They have kindly given us a copy of Raising Real Men to give away. Tomorrow Melanie will share what a typical day in her house is like. So be sure to come back and see what she has to say.

You will be able to enter the contest through Thursday, Dec. 9th, 2010. The winner of the drawing will be announced on Friday, Dec. 10th, 2010. You may enter the contest 5 different ways, and you may enter each day there is a new post. So, each day we have a new post you have the ability to put your name in the drawing up to 5 times. If an international reader wins, I will be giving you the e-book instead of a hard copy. If an international winner is drawn, we will then do a second drawing for someone within the United States. Each time you do one of the following things, come back here and leave us a comment. Be sure to tell me which of the things you did, and if you linked to us on your blog, please leave the link for your post. You can enter by doing any combination of the following.

1. Follow us on Facebook.

2. Follow us on Twitter.

Boo-hoo….no facebook, no twitter, and no blog. Maybe someday our children will be old enough to show me how to do these things!

I understand completely! I would be lost without having my children to show me how to do these things.
